This evening session will explain what trustee responsibilities are; how groups of trustees work together; and what things need to borne in mind to ensure good governance.


Following the workshop, attendees will have an opportunity for one-to-one support to help their groups with board issues.


This session will help you to:

  • Better understand trustee responsibilities
  • Understand key principles trustees must uphold
  • Determine how to handle board behaviours
  • Make your meetings more enjoyable / productive


Who Should Attend:

This session is suitable for anyone who has recently taken on a trustee role and wants to find out more about what’s expected of them, as well as current trustees seeking a refresher. The session is interactive and there will be opportunities for questions. Attendees should live, work or volunteer in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.


Attend as:

  • an individual
  • with a fellow trustee or board member
  • someone who wants a refresher on boards


Places are restricted to a maximum of 2 per organisation.


Trainer's biography: Claudia Demuth

As an experienced coach and trainer, Claudia Demuth helps not-for-profits to set up, effectively deliver, and carefully reflect on income generation, business planning and leadership / governance approaches.

A long-standing associate for Richmond CVS, Claudia also undertakes consultancy for the Law Centres Network, Lloyds Bank Foundation, and other CVS's. Previous, similar work includes the School for Social Entrepreneurs, London Community Foundation, Homeless Link, and more.

Clients really value Claudia’s ability to quickly identify organisational stumbling blocks and ask hard questions which help challenge long-held assumptions whilst bringing humour and patience to any developmental process. Using expert coaching, creativity, action learning techniques and much interaction, her focus is to encourage third sector leaders and managers to keep going in their demanding roles.


Cost:

£10 + booking fee for Richmond-based groups or Richmond residents

£35 + booking fee for non-Richmond-based groups

Richmond CVS is able to offer a limited number of bursaries every year to locally based organisations that support Richmond residents.
