Overview

Grab your wellies and come along to learn more about the amazing rocky shores of the Northumberland Coast!

In celebration of Eider Duck Day, Berwickshire and Northumberland Marine Nature Partnership are running a series of events to allow you to explore and discover the places eider ducks call home, where they find their food, and how we can work together to protect these amazing and charismatic birds.

This rocky shore ramble will be led by expert staff from the Marine Nature Partnership and Space for Shorebirds, will take place at Amble. Armed with buckets and nets, we will take a stroll to the place between the tides, an other-worldly habitat home to all kinds of amazing marine life.

We will rummage through the seaweeds and rockpools, and learn all about how organisms who survive on the shore help support the wildlife of Northumberland, especially the famous cuddy duck!

  • Places are limited so booking is essential! If you are unable to attend please let us know so that we can reallocate your tickets.
  • Walking along uneven and sometimes slippery rocks will be undertaken during the session. Waterproofs, warm clothing and sturdy boots or wellies are essential.
  • If you have your binoculars do bring them along, however some optical equipment will also be available to share.
  • As we will be exploring on the rocky shore, this event is unfortuntely not suitable for dogs
  • Please note that in the case of extreme weather conditions, events may be postponed. We will directly contact those booked onto the events should this occur.
  • We will meet at Amble Links (1) car park at 9am, beginning promptly so we can catch the low tide!
