eLab

eLab is a new initiative by the Council of International Education Exchange (CIEE) that aims to support very early stage international entrepreneurs to understand the foundation of building a business in the UK and build a network.

The Pitching Event

eLab’s 6th London cohort will be pitching on the Wednesday 30th October 2019. Each participant is an early stage entrepreneur who is seeking to validate their business ideas and receive feedback and support from industry professionals.

Alister Sneddon - Co-Founder & CTO

One of three co-founders for Genuine Impact, which successfully raised 330% of their funding target on Crowdcube, he focuses on leading the technical strategy and implementation for the team.

His past achievements range from robo-adviser and stock broker white labels, e.g. Motley Fool UK, Telegraph Investor, AllianzGI by Moneyfarm, and Charity Aid Foundation, to develiering a compliant paperless SIPP solution for Moneyfarm. He was the product owner for SharePrice and led the product strategy for Interactive Investor which ultimately aided in the successful merger with TD Direct, forming the second largest stock broker in the UK.

He also holds an Investment Operations Certificate from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Maurizina Da Silva - Business Growth Manager at London and Partner

Maurizina is a Business Growth Manager for London & Partners, the official promotional agency for London, providing free advice and assistance to London-based startups in the Financial, Business Services and Technology sector. Maurizina also has a wealth of experience working with trade and foreign direct investment and a Master’s in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management.

Yee Mun Thum - Investment Lead at The Bakery

Yee Mun manages early-stage investments and accelerator content strategy at The Bakery. She regularly mentors early-stage startups at King’s College London, Bloooming Founders, Ada’s List, Angel Academe, the Chevening Alumni Alliance and Santander Universities.

Previously, she built King’s College London’s Entrepreneurship Institute investor network, and was a partner at early-stage angel investment syndicate Potential VC. An Ignite Newcastle alumna, she also co-founded designer eyewear subscription service Scarlett of Soho, acquired by Glasses Direct in Nov 2015.

She was previously head of content and corporate affairs at leading Malaysian digital agency VLT. A Chevening scholar, she holds an MA in Digital Culture & Society from King’s College London.
