The workshop is intended for people with little or no experience of electronics to start to develop practical skills that will be helpful in building interactive exhibits that include electronic elements. In two days we won’t make you a master, but we’ll help you get over the initial hurdles and feel comfortable building and experimenting with simple electronic circuits. We aim to have a very hands-on experience with opportunities for you to try you own experiments within the framework of the course goals.
 
DAY 1 - Saturday 10am - 5pm The first day of the course is a general introduction to electronic components and tries to gives a feel for how circuits work. It provides plenty of opportunity to try experiments on the circuits suggested and should give people enough understanding to feel they can build and modify circuits in future. DAY 2 - Sunday 10am - 5pm On the second day of the course we use the Arduino programmable controller to create a simple organ with lighting effects using the electronic skills from day 1. The focus is on techniques that are useful to make interactive installations and can be picked up easily.

Costs:
The workshop itself is free, you just pay for materials, including an Arduino processor which you'll take away with you. The full cost is £40, but there are a limited number of subsidised tickets for early birds - so be quick!

What do I need to bring to the event?
Please bring a laptop (windows or mac) and a 4B pencil.

We prefer to keep this opportunity open for people who would like to benefit from both days. 
 
What's the refund policy?
Refunds accepted 7 days in advance (otherwise we will have ordered the materials) 
 
What are the access arrangements in the venue?
The workshop takes place on the first floor. Unfortunately no lift is available.
 
Do I need to be an artist in order to attend?
The course is designed for people who want to learn the skills to create interactive installations. If that fits the bill, we are open minded!
