Come along and hear from others who have travelled a similar path and are now at the top of their game in the industry. This event, brought to you on behalf of Belfast City Council, will provide inspiration and practical advice as well as physical support for those who want to take the leap into starting their own business.Speakers confirmed:Grainne McCoyProfessional Makeup Artist, Beauty Brand Owner, UK Apprentice Semi-Finalist, Influencer, Certified Mindset Coach, Mum.Grainne McCoy is best known for being a Semi-Finalist on the UK hit show ”The Apprentice’’. With an average of 8 million viewers tuning in each week, people across the UK and Ireland watched as Grainne was put through her paces by Sir Alan Sugar and his team. Having reached the semi-finals, Grainne’s drive, charisma and tenacity was recognised by the show’s producers resulting in her being asked back each year to mentor the new crop of candidates. First and foremost, Grainne is a professional makeup artist. Her creative flair and precision in makeup has led to work at Cannes Film Festival and several high fashion editorial shoots for top publications. Whilst living in London, Grainne rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in TV and Film as she was head makeup designer at Google &amp; YouTube HQ for their ‘Google Hangouts’ series. Grainne utilised her breadth of experience in business and makeup to launch her very own brand, ‘Grainne McCoy Cosmetics’. Grainne’s lashes and makeup brushes are now stocked throughout Ireland and is currently in development stages for further products to launch to the public. Grainne also started a new retail business during the lockdown in 2020 and ‘GiveUsBeauty’ was born. As well as a makeup guru and social media influencer Grainne is a well-recognised motivational speaker, personal development &amp; Certified Proctor Gallagher Mindset Coach. Grainne became a mum at the age of 15, but she did not let that stand in her way of success – in fact, it only made her more determined. She will speak openly about her early journey in business, navigating the highs and lows, and the power of positive thinking in achieving your business and life goals.James ConwayMulti Award-Winning Tattoo Artist and Owner of Skull &amp; Bones Tattoo SocietyJames Conway is a tattoo artist and an oriental specialist with almost ten years of experience. In 2022 he formed the Skull &amp; Bones Tattoo Society to create his own version of what a tattoo studio should be. James has won awards at some of the major UK and Irish conventions including Dublin, Limerick, Galway, Cork, Southampton and Birmingham. James is a prime example of a local business who has availed of support to help his business grow and he will speak about his business journey and how the ‘Vacant to Vibrant’ program has helped him to repurpose a vacant space in Belfast City centre to house a custom tattoo studio with a team of award-winning artists.Joyce Wells Award Winning Hairdresser, Owner of Joyce Wells Hair &amp; Beauty, Columnist, and ‘Hair in Recovery’ Specialist.Joyce Wells is an award-winning hairdresser with over 15 years’ experience in the field. She is the owner of ‘Joyce Wells Hair &amp; Beauty salon’ based on the Holywood Road in Belfast. Joyce always had a passion for hairdressing from an early age and aspired to own her own salon one day. She started her career as an apprentice in 2004 and went on to work full time in insurance sales and financial claims whilst doing hairdressing and hair extensions in her kitchen in the evenings, after work and on weekends. With hard work and dedication, Joyce built up her experience, education and client base over the years. She then found a niche within the industry and is now the only ‘hair in recovery’ technician in Northern Ireland, helping people who have experienced medical hair loss. She now has clients travelling from across the UK to have their extensions fitted with her at her own salon in Belfast.
