Elizabeth Carne: Banker, Geologist, Painter, Philanthropist

Come and hear about a remarkable Cornishwoman Elizabeth Carne who managed to study, to research in the scientific field of the time, to write and to run a bank while living on Chapel Street in Penzance.

‘Though well known in her lifetime’ writes Dr M. Hardie in her biographical notes, ‘she has dropped from sight in the welter of names of famed men of science that fill our Cornish history shelves.’
