Overview

This year’s Elmhurst Spring Masterclass focuses on the works of Sir Peter Wright as we celebrate his centenary year.

Join us for an inspiring and immersive morning of dance at Elmhurst Ballet School as our Summer Masterclass celebrates the legacy of Sir Peter Wright, marking his centenary year.

One of the most influential figures in British ballet, Sir Peter Wright’s productions are renowned for their dramatic storytelling, musical sensitivity and rich classical style. His work continues to shape the repertoire and training of dancers across the world, particularly through his long-standing association with Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Open to dancers aged 10–16, the Masterclass will include a classical ballet class alongside the opportunity to learn and explore repertoire from Sir Peter Wright’s celebrated productions, all under the guidance of Elmhurst’s highly experienced faculty. Dancers will be supported to develop their technique, artistry and performance quality in a focused and inspiring studio environment.

We are delighted to welcome Birmingham Royal Ballet Principal Dancers, Samara Downs and Tzu-Chao Chou, who will join the day as guest artists. They will lead repertoire sessions and share their professional experience and insight into performing works from Sir Peter Wright’s repertoire.

The morning will conclude with a presentation and Q&A session, offering dancers a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand insight into life within a leading ballet company and the pathways into vocational training.
