Emergency First Aid at Work

Richmond CVS is an independent charity and the infrastructure support body for the hundreds of organisations that make up the voluntary and community sector in our Borough.   Richmond CVS delivers a range of services such as training, tools, advice and support to help voluntary organisations in Richmond become strong, independent and sustainable.

This course provides learners with essential basic first aid skills and knowledge to handle first aid related emergencies in the workplace.

Whitton Community Centre

Join us for a one-day level 3 course based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of Emergency First Aid at Work Courses. The session is both theoretical and practical and will cover all that is required under HSE recommendations.Topics covered:<ul><li>Primary and Secondary Survey</li><li>Basic Life Support and CPR</li><li>Use of Defibrillator</li><li>Choking</li><li>Shock, Bleeding and Wounds</li><li>Fracture and Burns</li><li>Unconsciousness</li><li>Heart Attack</li><li>Stroke</li><li>Epilepsy</li><li>Rules and Regulations</li></ul>The training is suitable for a variety of working environments including offices, gyms, care homes, or kitchens. It includes a variety of life saving techniques for anyone suffering an injury or developing a condition that requires early medical intervention. General informationParticipants are strongly recommended to bring their own lunch, as there will only be a 30 minute lunch break period. Alternatively, there is a cafe onsite.This is a very practical session, not classroom style, and attendees should be willing to fully participate throughout the day. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended and you may like to bring a mat or large towel for some of the practical demonstrations and exercises which will take place at floor level.As this training is certified, participants must stay for the whole of the day. Who should attend:This training session is specifically for staff or volunteers from voluntary and community sector organisations based in or primarily operating in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Trainer: Tom WhiteTom has over 25 years of experience delivering First Aid training based on years of experience providing First Aid in schools, cadet organisations, DofE activities and residential trips. As well as delivering training, he provides First Aid cover at events such as music concerts, festivals, film sets and sporting events. Tom is trained to FREC4 level and is registered with The Heath Practice Associates Council.
