Emergency First Aid

The New Cross Gate Trust is a local community charity, based in the beautiful Besson Street Community Garden, where we provide a wonderfully wide and varied range of services to our local community of New Cross Gate.From adult learning courses to under-5 stay and play sessions; from recorder clubs to sewing clubs; calming mindfulness sessions and yoga classes to exciting community events like our annual Halloween Hoot; environmental lessons for schools to gardening clubs for adults. We like to think that there is something here for everyone, and everyone is always welcome.Based in a neighbourhood that experiences high levels of deprivation, we aim to support families and adults of all ages to learn new skills, improve their health and wellbeing, build social networks, find employment and develop their confidence to achieve their goals.Our vision is that New Cross Gate should be a fulfilling, healthy and safe place for all of our community to live, work and study.

New Cross Learning

This is one day level 3 course. The qualification covers the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident; first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED; providing first aid to a casualty who is choking; and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock. This is a certificated course and the awarding body is highfield. The cost is £10 unwaged and £50 waged. You need to bring photo ID with you on the day (such as a passport or driving licence)COVID-19All of our courses are currently being delivered from New Cross Learning, 283 New Cross Road, SE14 6AS. This will enable us to practice good social distancing while delivering the course and to keep everyone safe. As this is an indoor venue, under the current COVID guidelines, you will be required to wear a face mask for the duration of the course. Please also wash your hands before leaving your house and again when you arrive at the venue. We appreciate your support in being able to deliver our courses in a COVID-19 safe environment. We retain the right to ask you to leave the course if you do not follow our COVID safe guidelines. In this instance, you would not be refunded for the cost of the course. CERTIFICATES: we will let you know when we have received the certificates and you will be expected to come and collect these from Besson Street. We do not post them out. This is because certificates often get lost in the post and it is expensive to re-order them.
