Emotional Learning Cards workshop 

Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) is a leading UK contemporary visual arts organisation which creates exhibitions, publications, digital initiatives, education and research projects. Iniva explores the politics of race and global identities through the visual arts to challenge the status quo. Iniva was established in 1994 to address an imbalance in the representation of culturally diverse artists, curators and writers.Iniva also runs the Stuart Hall Library, which was renamed in 2007 in honour of the renowned cultural theorist and inaugural chair of our board. The development of the collection takes Hall’s work as a guiding principle, and in keeping with this, the library collects around art which takes issues such as cultural identity as its theme. The book collection includes over 10,000 volumes. The library holds over 4,000 group exhibition catalogues, 3,500 works on individual artists, and 2,500 contextual, historical or theoretical works as well as over 200 periodical titles and over 200 zines.Iniva is a registered charity and an Arts Council England National Portfolio organisation.

<H3 CLASS="MsoNormal">Emotional Learning Cards workshop  Demonstration workshop for personal and professional development Thursday 6 July, 6-8pm (2 hours certified CPD) at Iniva, Rivington Place, London EC2A 3BA £25 per person (or £35 including our new set of cards Let’s talk about values)</H3>
On Thursday 6 July art therapist and a psychoanalytic psychotherapist Lyn French (director of A Space, Hackney) and Georgina Evans (art psychotherapist and visiting lecturer at Roehampton University) will facilitate an experiential workshop on creative, hands-on ways to use our <A HREF="https://inivacreativelearning.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Emotional Learning Cards</A>. The ideas and approaches featured will be ones which can be adapted to suit any age group.  
Lyn's roots lie in the first European settler communities in Canada while Georgina was born in Nigeria; both explore ideas relating to the politics of identity in their work as creative therapists. The workshop is open to all and will consider ways to open-up conversation, creative thinking as well as inspiring art-making.

Lyn will be using examples from this set as well as others in our series. Book a ‘with cards’ ticket and get a copy of our new set for £10 (normally £17.95).

Emotional Learning Cards feature images of international contemporary art together with questions and suggestions for activity and discussion. They are a fantastic means through which to open up important personal and social conversations with young people but can equally be used as a refreshing introduction to contemporary art. Our cards are used all over the world by teachers, art therapists, counsellors, parents, artists and gallery educators.
