<h2>Enabling Agency through Learning Design: a case study of interdisciplinary project design directed by students and partner organisations in the School of Arts and Creative Industries

</h2><p>In the Music Writing and Performance (MWP) department at UEL, UG and PG courses are leading curriculum delivery using a dynamic interdisciplinary project design model. This approach enables courses to respond and adapt the curriculum to changing features and needs of the professional context and market, and to the needs and potential of prospective and existing students, quickly and dynamically.
</p><p>
</p><p>Our partnerships with smaller specialised learning organisations also follow this curriculum design approach, enabling partner institutions to create context-relevant bespoke projects to suit their students&#x27; interests and learning potential, and responding to their organisational principles and strategic vision.
</p><p>
</p><p>The flexibility of this approach also offers opportunities for students to design their own projects, connecting project activity and task design to learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
</p><p>
</p><p>This increases student agency through project design, enables the development of meta-cognitive capability, and develops fluency in students to direct their own learning process.
</p><p>
</p><p>Lectures, Course Leaders, and Academic Link Tutors act as moderators to qualify that project design is coherent with the underlying module structure and includes relevant routes for progression and growth. 
</p><p>
</p><p>In this seminar I will be showcasing and evaluating the opportunity and potential of this approach, inviting comment and review.
