<p>In marine environments, anthropogenic disturbance, such as noise from human activities is increasing dramatically, causing animals to alter their behaviour and forage less efficiently. These alterations incur energetic costs that can result in reproductive failure and death and may ultimately influence population viability. Energy models aim at understanding energy budget of animals: how much they eat and how do they spend these eaten calories on maintaining their metabolism and reproduction. Our host Magda Chudzinska will present how we can use such models to inform management and minimise the effect of anthropogenic activities on animals. She will focus on marine mammals around the UK waters. </p>
