The global debt crisis is depriving children of an education, leaving families unable to access healthcare and impeding communities from preparing for climate catastrophes.
FfD4 presents an opportunity to address this, reshaping global financing to promote inclusive and sustainable development. The conference comes during the Jubilee year of 2025: a sacred time of renewal and restoration. The Jubilee serves as a reminder that the Earth’s resources are not intended for the benefit of a privileged few, but for all people. This side event will provide an opportunity to reflect on persistent inequalities and to take bold action towards addressing them.
This side event will explore the need for political leadership capable of driving fundamental reforms in the global financial architecture. These reforms should strive for a more democratic, legitimate and equitable system, underpinned by the principles of the Jubilee and Catholic Social Teaching: human dignity, renewal, restoration, solidarity, fairness for the common good.
