Design a solution and win a great prize. Teens and adults welcome.Learn about Making and what you can use to solve problems around you. With daily sessions over two weeks, participants will get the chance to learn all about creative problem solving and get an introduction to the ideas behind the Internet of Things. The events are free and open to all, whether you’re a complete beginner, tech savvy or tech shy. There’s lots to learn and prizes to win.We’ll introduce you to affordable digital technologies that can help you solve problems. Learn how to use micro:bits and arduinos to solve problems in your environment - or just use what’s at hand around you to make a difference.To win a prize, use what you’ve learnt to show how you’d use the Internet of Things as an innovative solution to an environmental problem. Stefan will set the scene for the challenge and explain some of the ideas behind Making and the Internet of things. Tuesday 23 June @2.00-3.00An introduction to Making with Tanya Fish. Tanya is an established Maker who&#x27;s worked with schools, universities, arts programs and community organisations to provide maker education at all levels. She&#x27;s also a technical writer, with her work appearing in magazines like Hackspace and Make, as well as in the Book of Making. In this interactive session you will learn how to plan a make and choose the right materials for your project.Wednesday 24 June @2.00-3.00Kisha Bradley from Brightbox Makerspace in Sheffield will host an interactive webinar on creative thinking. Kisha created Bright Box because she says there’s no greater joy than seeing people have an ‘aha’ moment when creating their own inventions. Kisha&#x27;s mission is also to get more socially excluded kids to see that tech, engineering and arts can be fun and creative. Thursday 25 June @2.00-3.00The first arduino adventure with Oli Howson. Oli is a lecturer in Computer Science at the Open University. He loves programming, tech and learning. He is a qualified 11-18 CS teacher and A-level examiner and now works primarily in HE. In this first session, Oli will introduce participants to what you can do with arduinos and creating a basic Arduino-based device.Friday 26 June @2.00-3.00Micro:bit Masterclass. The session on Thursday will see a micro:bit masterclass with David Pride. David, the Enterprise and Outreach Manager at the Open University&#x27;s Knowledge Media Institute, is an experienced maker and expert micro:bit enthusiast with years of experience helping people solve problems with technology.Monday 29 June @2.00-3.00WE APOLOGISE THAT ELENA AND THE HYDROPONIC AI TEAM HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THEIR SESSION DUE TO A SUDDEN CHANGE IN THEIR EXAM TIMETABLE.Instead, we will leave the platform open if people would like to come in to discuss their ideas with other participants. Tuesday 30 June @2.00-3.00The second ardiuno adventure with Oli Howson. In this second interactive session, Oli will help encourage participants to discuss and refine their own ideas before leading them through a second interactive building session to explore the power of the Arduino in an affordable manner. Wednesday 1 July @2.00-3.00Community discussion. With deadline day approaching for participants to submit the ideas and designs, Wednesday will see a trouble-shooting session to help participants sort out any problems and try to provide answers to any questions. Thursday 2 JulyOwn Work Window. Participants can work on their submissions in their own time.Friday 3 JulyContributors post their designs to be judged by the panel of presenters.Friday 10 JulyPrize Day!
