Fiona Barry - Clinical Strategy Lead for Children and Young People's Therapies at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Fiona is a qualified speech and language therapist with a clinical background in working with children of all ages. In her role as Clinical Strategy Lead for CYP Therapies she is the professional lead for Children's Speech and Language Therapy in Bucks and leads on partnership working at an operational level on behalf of Speech and Language Therapy,Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.Buckinghamshire Specialist Teachers are qualified teachers who provide a service to schools and settings for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The Specialist ASD, Language and Cognition and Learning Teachers work within the three geographical hubs (Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Chiltern and South Buckinghamshire). The Sensory, Physical and Down syndrome teams are countywide teams which work across the  hubs. Specialist Teachers work with schools and settings and other professionals to understand how a pupil's special educational need or disability affects the way they learn or their access to education and support schools and settings in helping the pupil achieve their learning goals. We also offer advice and training for schools and settings on how to meet the needs of children with SEND.

If the answer is yes, then Buckinghamshire Council have an exciting new opportunity for you.In partnership with colleagues from Health, FACT Bucks and SENDIAS, we will be running FREE training sessions to support those caring for or working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within Buckinghamshire.This session is aimed at parents/carers of or professionals (including from health, education or social care) working with children and young people living in Buckinghamshire who would like a better understanding of how they may support a person with a physical or sensory impairment to access their environment and community.This is a practical and interactive session to:<ul><li> enhance your basic understanding of what it is like to have some form of impairment e.g visual, hearing, physical disability</li><li>consider the environmental barriers that someone with a physical or sensory impairment may encounter</li><li>look at what you could do to adapt or change the environment or approach you use to support a person to access their environment and community.</li></ul>
