The Royal Observatory Greenwich was founded in 1675 to improve navigation at sea and 'find the so-much desired longitude of places' and over the centuries became a top research site for astronomy. Today it is a museum and science centre, home to the Greenwich Meridian, magnificent timepieces, telescopes (historic and contemporary) and a state-of-the-art planetarium.The Royal Observatory is part of Royal Museums Greenwich. A top-10 UK visitor attraction, Royal Museums Greenwich is also home to the iconic historic sailing shipCutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum, the Queen’s House art gallery and the Prince Philip Maritime Collection Centre.

We're putting Mars against Jupiter - Who will win?

Royal Observatory Greenwich astronomers Dr Affelia Wibisono and Patricia Skelton both have a favourite planet in the Solar System and now they need your help in settling the debate: which planet is the best, Mars or Jupiter? Join them in this online discussion as they present their arguments about why they think their favourite planet is the best in the Solar System, and you’ll get to cast the deciding vote at the end of the session to finally put an end to this argument… at least for now.Event detailsPlease be ready and set up on Zoom by the time the session begins (19:00 GMT).
