Description
Epigenetics Workshop: Statistical approaches and developments for harnessing the value in DNA methylation data
The MRC-IEU at the University of Bristol are holding a workshop on statistics in epigenetics, on the 26th of November 2018 (10:30am-16:00pm) at Engineer’s House, Bristol, BS8 3NB. In this workshop, we will describe recent key statistical advances for analysing DNA methylation data. These include:
(i) Efficiently analysing epigenetic changes over time.
(ii) Dealing with missing covariate information in epigenome-wide association studies.
(iii) A robust joint location-and-scale test for assessing mean and variance differences related to binary and continuous exposures.
(iv) A novel method for identifying differentially methylated regions which accurately controls type I error rate.
There will also be a talk describing the EWAS Catalog, a curated database of associations from epigenome-wide association studies. The keynote lecture will be given by Prof Frank Dudbridge, University of Leicester, on ‘Estimation of a significance threshold for epigenome‐wide association studies’.
There are also three slots available for talks on topics related to statistics in epigenetics. To apply for one of these slots, please send a short abstract to James Staley (james.staley@bristol.ac.uk). The workshop is free of charge, but travel costs will not be covered.
