Join us for a series of Data Science Tech Talks exploring state-of-the-art techniques and their practical applications. Covering a wide range topics such as machine learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, data visualisation and more.
This free evening talk will cover how to incorporate cognitive neuroscience into computational models for AI, such as programming empathy, theory of mind and cognitive flexibility. 
 
Abstract:
Technology is often used as a metaphor for the human brain. We have called it an engine, processing machine, computer etc.,  all of course not very accurate metaphors. However, they help us anchor our thoughts to help us further our comprehension of an extremely complex entity. The metaphor also feedback to technology as we use biological terms to describe technological advancements. We are now taking another huge leap in computing driven by AI, which aims to be analogous to human intelligence. 
To make technology more biologically plausible, there should be a more direct collaboration between neuroscience and technologist. We will be discussing three different pillars that we need to consider in order to move technology into the biological sphere.

Araceli is the co-founder of THECUBE and WECREATE NYC. She is a cognitive neuroscientist with a specialisation in the relationship between people and space.
