Aim: To support teachers with the development of Computing in their schools. This event is intended for secondary school Computing teachers, (particularly those teaching GCSE Computer Science), but other interested individuals are very welcome to attend and are likely to find it beneficial.

What to expect: Following a brief introduction, in our Resource Roundup, you'll have an opportunity to discover great resources and strategies first-hand from the teachers actually using them. Then you'll take part in a highly engaging (and entertaining), live hands-on Computing lesson that is intended to support your own professional development as well as that of your colleagues. Expect plenty of practical ideas, helpful suggestions and transferable strategies you can be using with your students the very next day.

Programme:

14:00 Resource Roundup: "Bring & Brag"

• You are encouraged to bring something along with you to brag about it to other teachers e.g. a book, a gadget, or other teaching or learning resource you have discovered, or bring some student work you've been marking or working on that you're happy to show to others
• Please understand - it doesn't need to be anything particularly outstanding, amazing or super-special, in fact - something you might already have with you could work really well, for example, a piece of student work that you're unhappy with would be ideal.

14:30 A live lesson: Take part in an engaging, 'hands-on' GCSE Computer Science lesson

• A role-play situation. Participants act as GCSE students while our host acts as your teacher, with occasional experiments in humour by our host.
• Experience strategies as a student that you might feel encouraged to use to support your own students

16:00 Close: Time to bid farewell

Shortly after this event, we are also hosting an #exabits: Family Hack Jam event.

Programming Projects: We will not be able to discuss the specifics of any live/current examination tasks during this session, but we will provide transferable teaching/learning strategies that you may use within examination board guidelines to support all learners. Any enquiries specifically related to examinations are best answered by the relevant awarding body representatives.
