Description

#exalens Teach Computing webinars support teachers to develop the teaching of Computing within their schools.

This broadcast is intended for primary Computing teachers (5-11 years). If you teach secondary aged students aged (11-16) years you should register for our #exalens secondary webinars instead. #exalens webinars are planned, managed and hosted by Alan O'Donohoe of Exa.Foundation (part of Exa Networks).

When you register for an #exalens webinar, you'll automatically be emailed details that will allow you to access this broadcast as well as previous broadcasts. If you know you can definitely take part in the live session, you only need register for the 'live webinar' ticket, these places are limited. If you only intend to watch the catch-up recording afterwards, then you only need to register for the 'catch-up' ticket. Whichever ticket you choose, you'll receive links to all content afterwards.

#exalens: Teach Computing will:

  • include strategies to plan & teach Computing lessons at Key Stage 1 & 2
  • focus on the practical pedagogy of teaching Computing in a primary setting
  • include free resources for you to use in your own school
  • help you to deal with the many issues faced by Computing Co-ordinators

Programme: The programme is developed in response to issues raised by Computing teachers and is subject to change. This broadcast will focus on the following three topics, each topic lasting 15-20 minutes:

  1. The role of Computing Co-ordinator - tips on how best to manage this role.
  2. Scratch game projects - How to ensure all your pupils are engaged in their own Computing projects.
  3. Email for KS2 - finding your way through the minefield of email for your pupils.

Email confirmation: After registering it is essential that you check your inbox for a confirmation email from Eventbrite. This same method will be used to send you participation details shortly before the live webinar as well as links to the recording, content and other resources after the webinar. If you do not receive these details, it's likely that you have either provided an incorrect email address or the Eventbrite email has been treated as spam.

>>> Please check carefully for email confirmation as issues cannot be rectified during the broadcast. <<<

Taking part: There is absolutely no compulsion for you to join the webinar broadcast, but you will derive the most benefit from taking an active part through the online chat. If you definitely can't make the live session, register for a catch-up ticket instead.
