Exeter Coding Dojo - Graph Databases
Thu 3 November 2016, 18:30 – 21:30 GMT
Relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL don’t really store relationships. We’re going dive into the alternative world of Graph databases and see why internet giants like Facebook, Netflix and LinkedIn use this particular NoSQL model.
This event is hosted by Gerry McNicol. Gerry is co-founder of Big Consultancy and long-time data-scientist and developer.
Bring your laptop, installed with the latest Java runtime if you don't already have it. We'll be working in small groups so if you don't have a laptop that's fine, but please email beforehand via the link below, so that we can make sure there are enough.
Pizza will be provided. Bring your own drinks.
What is a coding dojo?
The purpose of a coding dojo is to learn and practice some of the practical and commercial skills related to software development and to learn from people working in different fields. We will receive a short tutorial on graph databases from Gerry McNicoll, and then work in small groups on a series of challenges to put these new skills into use.
Pizza is provided to sustain us through the evening.
