Join us to celebrate our latest exhibition, Present Tense - a collective exhibition by the recipients of the 2023 Turning Point Bursary.

Present Tense is a new exhibition bringing together work by four artists in the ‘a space’ arts 2023 <a href="https://aspacearts.org.uk/artist-development/turning-point-bursary" title="https://aspacearts.org.uk/artist-development/turning-point-bursary" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Turning Point Bursary </a>Programme: Suna Imre, Carrie Mason, Joshua Raffell and Alec Stevens. Over the last six months, the artists have undertaken a period of self-led artistic experimentation, development and risk-taking to push beyond existing boundaries within their practices and yield new ways of working. The Turning Point programme embraces ‘open ends’, creating valuable time and space for the development of artistic practice without the pressure to produce specific outcomes or ‘finished’ artwork. Present Tense is an exhibition of the artists’ work in the present moment, celebrating a playful and experimental approach to practice, whilst also acknowledging the tension evident in the works on display.This event is the opportunity to explore the exhibition up close and meet the artists behind the works. You can enjoy an exclusive artist-led tour of the exhibition, as the artists lead you around the gallery spaces and share insights into their work and experiences of the Turning Point Bursary.The cafe and bar will also be open throughout the evening, and the artist talks will be screened for those with mobility or access needs.The exhibition is on display at God's House Tower from Friday 26th January until Sunday 3rd March 2024. Admission to the exhibition is free. Please note that there is some nudity and sexually explicit imagery in this exhibition and signage is in place outside those galleries. Please be aware, particularly if attending with young people. Access and Quiet Spaces The ground floor bar and cafe to GHT have step free access from Town Quay Road. The artwork for this exhibition can be found in the Main Gallery, Project Space and Crawford Room. The Main Gallery and Project Space are both served by the lift which will be operating all evening. Unfortunately the Crawford Room does not have step free access. You can visit the GHT website to hear an audio description of the work in that space and the work will be captured in our live steam, streamed via instagram and in the cafe during the event. Throughout the event the Cafe Extension will be used as a quiet space with dimmed lighting, seating, quiet music and water available. Please use this space if you need to for any reason to take a break.If you’d like to familiarise yourself before your visit you can take a virtual tour of the spaces on our website. We make these events free to attend so we will be operating a ‘pay what you feel’ system at the end of the event. All funds raised will help us to keep supporting local artists and performers and will help to build a creative community around GHT.
