We want to make Leeds the best city to grow old in.Leeds Older People’s Forum is a network of third sector organisations working with and for older people.We have developed a test and learn approach to finding out what works to  ensure older people have the opportunities, choices and support they need to live the life they want.LOPF is a registered charity.

AS part of the Age Proud Leeds festival we will be  experiencing the best aspects of  the Shared Tables project

Left Bank Leeds

As part of the Age Proud Festival join us for a shared table meal, meet some of the volunteer hosts and experience a Shared table for yourself. The event will take place at Left Bank, a lovely, large, well ventilated venue. You will share a table with 6 others and have a chance to chat to some other people as well as asking volunteer table hosts and participants all about it. You will served a simple cold tea, with cake, and lots of hot tea..Do you love to chat with friends over a meal? Most of us do, but many of us feel shy about heading to the pub for dinner on our own. Join us to find out more about a innovative scheme to help more people get together and make new friends over dinner like this. Unable to meet during much of the pandemic, the linchpins of the Shared Tables experience, the volunteer table hosts are keen to get back to it, so they have agreed to come along and help us to host so you can find out how it works.Shared Tables was a Time to Shine funded project, where single people were able to share a meal out together. It was so popular when Crossgates and District Good neighbours came up with the idea that they wrote a toolkit and helped others to take it on. We'd love to spread it further across the city and beyond, and we don't think it is just for older people either - don't we all find it easier to make new friends as we share food? If you’d like to know more about how it works and whether you might be able to organise something similar for your area or organisation there’s a toolkit you can use to help you set things up.Looking forward to meeting you there.It's free, but please book a a ticket so we know how many to cater forLeft Bank is a 15 minute bus ride from the city centre (number 19) and there is plenty of on street parking around the building.
