In this two day workshop you will explore experimental approaches to linocut, under the expert guidance of Nick Morley (aka Linocutboy). Taking a playful approach, you will discover new ways to carve, ink and print. Participants should come with an open mind about what they will produce during the workshop.
In this workshop, non-traditional techniques are encouraged. Through trial and error and collaboration you will learn about:
- Mark making with gouges and non-traditional tools
- A variety of unusual inking techniques
- Using materials to partially remove ink ( blotting, selective wiping, impressing etc)
- Creating textures through the inking and printing processes.
- Printing with and without a press.
- Layering colours.
- Working with colour blends.
- Working with metallic inks and a variety of papers.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience. Maximum class size is 6 people.
