Embrace your inner tomboy with Santi, Founder of G(end)er Swap in a one off DIY tie making workshop and style exploration session!

This workshop is in light of the screening of TOMBOY taking place at Electric Palace on May 19th. We wanted to bring a weekend of queer fun to the venue - and so you have a new tie to wear to the screening the next day ;)


This is an interactive workshop where you will explore gender affirming style tips related to suits/ties and more broadly, formal wear.

What your £30 ticket gets you:

A 2 hour style, exploration and DIY session with a styling expert

Learn how to brainstorm/design/DIY your clothes

Learn affirming style tips from a style expert

Take part in a gender affirming styling session

Partake in our Q+A discussion and resource sharing session


Materials + resources that come with your ticket:

A vintage tie to work on

All materials included: fabric, accessories, sewing materials, paint, tools etc

Take home style resources + an opportunity to recieve 1-1 support after the workshop

When: 1-3pm

Who is the workshop for? Anyone who is open to exploring their expression and identity- and has an interest in style, crafting, fashion and community building.

How much: £30 and there's a £40 donation ticket for anyone who can support me to continue my style outreach work.

About Santi: Santi (they/he) is a DIY fashion-ista, an LGBTQ+ grassroots organiser, public speaker and the Founder of G(end)er Swap - the first LGBTQ+ style outreach organisation in the UK that supports gender-diverse people to access style resources. Santi has been working in LGBTQ+ style outreach for 7 years creating digital style resources, delivering affirming style workshops, clothing support and makeup initiatives, talks and exhibitions across the UK and Europe to support the LGBTQ+ community- and allies. Santi has an extensive experiential background in makeup artistry & styling, harm reduction and academia. Their work has been featured in BRICKS magazine, Hunger Magazine, Open Democracy, Love Hero’s fashion campaign and has written style resources for We Create, Gendered Intelligence and The Oxford Pink Times. Their organisation made Social Enterprise UK’s 2020 honour roll for leading in digital inclusion and The Community Organisation of the Year Shortlist for the National Diversity Awards in 2021. Santi is also a drag performer, model and content creator that is on a mission to inspire the representation of gender-diverse expression in mainstream society. Venue details:

Electric Cinema is not wheelchair accessible. You will have to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get to the room in the venue. Tea and snacks provided.

All materials, including ties, will be provided. If you would like to bring your own tie do DIY that is absolutley fine. All our ties are retro Disney ones. If this isn't your thing then please bring your own.
