About this event

  • Event lasts 5 hours 30 minutes

Exploring and Enhancing Listening Skills provides the opportunity for us to take a breath and really think about how effectively we communicate with others. Are there skills and techniques which may make us more effective? How’s our body language? So, whether you are in a supporting or volunteering role, giving advice to others, or managing staff and systems within your charity, there is perhaps something for us all to learn and hone our skills in this regard.

By the end of the workshop, you will have:

  • considered what is required to create a safe space for effective communication
  • increased awareness of self and others when we are listening
  • explored and enhanced your listening skills

To maximise the learning experience and gain from this course, you will be encouraged to actively participate in group activities, self-reflection and share elements from your own personal experiences.

Trainer: Kim Leech

Kim spent 30 years in the Magistrate’s Courts Service, at a senior level, managing staff and liaising with other professionals, members of the public and all those who came into contact with the courts. In 2008 she retrained as a Counsellor and has since then operated a small private counselling practice alongside working with a number of counselling agencies and charities.

Kim has been a national trainer for Cruse Bereavement Support, deputy manager of Hounslow Bereavement Service and more recently devised and delivered volunteer training for Space2grieve in Richmond.

Kim’s career has brought her into contact with a variety of people, and she believes that the ability to listen and communicate effectively with others is vital to success. And that there is always room for improvement!
