A day of workshops discussing and exploring the identities of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) at Warwick.

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) sit in a liminal space within the university as students, researchers, and teachers. In these various positions we navigate a variety of identities, roles and power structures which can bring a number of challenges, but also exciting possibilities.In this workshop, we bring together GTAs from across departments to explore GTA identities to create collaborative, supportive spaces to explore and learn together. By sharing our stories and experiences, we ask: how can we build insight into GTA experiences which might build knowledge to help improve the conditions of GTAs and support their roles in teaching &amp; learning?Schedule*: <ul><li>10.30am: Coffee &amp; Introductions </li><li>10.40: ECR Confessional Bring your questions and quandries to discuss with Sara Hattersley (Senior Academic Developer in the Academic Development Centre at Warwick). Sara's primary role is working with PGRs who teach, through which Sara has extensive insight into the expeirences and challenges that shape GTA experiences. Attendees are invited to submit their questions for Sara anonymously beforehand (link shared once registered), which will then be discussed together. </li><li>12pm: Woodland Walk Being outsite provides opportunities to breathe and reflect. Facilitated by dipbuk panchal (Sociology GTA), attendees are invited to take a multi-sensory walk through campus together and reflect on our experiences and the university that surrounds and shapes us. </li><li>1pm: Lunch </li><li>2pm: Zine-Making Being a GTA can be messy, exciting, and sometimes difficult to navigate. Facilitated by Carys Hill (Sociology GTA), attendees will be invited to zines and zine-making, using collage techniques to explore, reflect, and write about GTA identities. </li></ul><ul><li>3.30pm: Finish</li></ul>*note, there has been a small amendment to the start time.
