Exploring Immersive Media

An introduction to immersive media for filmmakers, combining talks, demos, no-code platforms, and hands-on group activities.

An evening for filmmakers & film enthusiasts curious about Extended Reality (XR) and immersive storytelling.

During this session the group will explore how immersive media can expand cinematic language, from 360° film and virtual production to interactive storytelling formats. Through live demos, discussion, and practical exercises, we’ll examine how traditional film practice can evolve into immersive experiences.

Together, we will:

• Explore different types of immersive media and XR formats.
• Experience festival-selected immersive film demos.
• Reimagine scenes from existing films as immersive environments.
• Experiment with accessible no-code tools for immersive storytelling.

By the end of the session, participants will:

• Understand key immersive storytelling formats.
• Experience at least two XR approaches and tools.
• Leave with practical ideas to apply immersive techniques in their own film projects.
