Exploring Maths and Topical Science through Botanical Expeditions
Overview
Calling third level maths and science teachers! Join us for a short online call introducing new resources that take a global citizenship approach to learning about speed, distance and time - and resources that apply this approach to Topical Science. These use past and present examples of plant collecting for the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh's collection of 3 million pressed plant samples stored in its Herbarium.
Jen from Scotdec and Gillian from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh will walk you through the resources on screen and take questions. The tools can be used independently either within secondary maths and Science/Biology - or together as part of an interdisciplinary learning project.
These resources were created in partnership by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Scotdec, and made possible by the Maths Week Scotland Large Grants Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
