The presentation, "Exploring Primitive Reflexes," will examine automatic movement patterns present at birth.
We are pleased to announce the first in a series of specialist trainer-led CPD sessions at Studio 3, designed to enhance the professional expertise of trainers seeking to broaden their scope of understanding.
Our inaugural session will be led by Alix Tessler, O.T. Reg. (MB), a school-based Occupational Therapist and graduate of the 2023 Studio 3 Train the Trainer programme in Winnipeg.
The presentation, "Exploring Primitive Reflexes," will examine automatic movement patterns present at birth. The session will cover key reflexes including the Moro, ATNR, STNR, TLR, Palmar, and Spinal Galant, and explore their roles in motor and neurological development, as well as the process of reflex integration.
Additionally, the session will address how retained primitive reflexes can influence movement, posture, learning, sensory processing, attention, and emotional regulation. Participants will gain insight into signs of retention, assessment approaches, current research, and intervention strategies. This session is recommended for trainers looking to further develop their delivery of the "Movement Differences" section within the Low Arousal Approaches to Managing Signs of Distress course.
