Event description

Description

This event will explore the issues for local authorities in meeting their legal duties under the Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act 2014 and regulations, and the Social Care (Self-directed Support)(Scotland) Act 2013.

Participants will have an opportunity to consider how to balance their duties under procurement legislation whilst promoting choice and control for individuals over their care and support under the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the practical issues and work out some solutions to dealing with these tensions.

Speakers will include: two procurement lawyers: Lauren Little, Partner at TC Young and Robin Fallas, Partner at MacRoberts LLP and also Lorna Ascroft, the Reform of Social Care Programme Lead at Scottish Government.

This event is aimed at solicitors and procurement lawyers working for local authorities and voluntary sector support providers from CCPS. For solicitors, this event may be eligible for your Continuing Professional Development requirements.

Outcomes for participants:

  • Increased knowledge of the legislation and regulations relating to procurement and self-directed support.

  • Increased understanding of how to balance the duties under procurement legislation whilst promoting choice and control for individuals over their care and support

  • Increased understanding of the Scottish Government's policy on social care reform, self-directed support and procurement

The event will start at 1.30pm and finish at 4pm. Following the event, refreshments and canapes will be available from 4-5pm

We look forward to seeing you there.
