Event description

Description

Continuing the popular series of Stalking Trees walkshops, we are delighted to welcome Paul Wood, author of London Street Trees (Guardian Nature Books of 2017) to entice you to Explore the Urban Forest.

Our January Urban Forest Exploration on Sunday 21 January 10.30am - 12.30pm: is Urban Forest: Peckham

For our January urban forest exploration, we head to the temperate climes of Peckham, where a fascinating variety of trees - old and new - may be encountered on the hip streets of this trendy south London enclave. Thanks to the enlightened planting decisions of Southwark Council (one of the top London boroughs for street trees), we may find early-flowering Persian Ironwoods, Golden False Acacias and the delightful Bastard Service Tree among the extensive SE15 species list. It may be January, but there’ll be lots to see and it will be a chance to hone those winter tree ID skills! So join Paul Wood for this Peckham circular taking in Peckham Rye, Bellenden Road and surrounding streets.

We will be handing out a field notebook and pencils, for you to keep your own learning journal and Paul will be signing copies of his book that will be available to purchase.

Our route begins and ends at Peckham Rye station, SE15 5DQ. Tickets £18 in advance / £20 on the day
