Overview

Everyone's welcome to attend The Feminist Art of Walking event to help support Prostate Cancer Research!

Join Our Fundraiser Talk with Dr Morag Rose and Film Screening

Author, Activist and Senior Lecturer at University of Liverpool, Dr Morag Rose will lead a discussion inspired by her published monograph Feminist Art of Walking. Dr Rose has been a walking artist and activist for over two decades. She founded the psychogeographical collective the Loiterers Resistance Movement (LRM) in 2006 and has performed, exhibited and shared this work widely. This event will explore how walking, and movement more generally, can be a political, cultural and creative tool. How public spaces, and access to spaces, intersects with social relations of gender, disability and class. Following the discussion we will screen a film that picks up on these themes.

Dr Morag Rose’s book can be purchased here: https://www.plutobooks.com/9780745351001/the-feminist-art-of-walking

Emily's Story
Combining combating cancer with reclaiming space through movement Emily has organised this event as part of her fundraising for Prostate Cancer Research to subvert the narratives of endurance and competitive. In April of this year she will be taking on the London Marathon for PCR - and for her dad. PCR funds research into more effective treatments for prostate cancer with the aim of creating a future where people are free from the impact of the disease. Research into prostate cancer saved her dad's life. You can read more about her motivation on her Just Giving page:

Big thank you to Dr Morag Rose for donating her time.
