About

The Grant Museum of Zoology invites you to join an exciting family workshop exploring our homes in the not-to-distant future also becoming biodiverse havens for animals.

Calling all budding architects, dreamers and problem solvers. In a world with an increasing population and the need for more houses at odds with a damaging reduction in habitats, perhaps we can rethink our homes to be not just fit for humans but for neighbouring animals too.

Remove the notion of unwanted visitors and household pests and build a roof for birds to nest in... an aardvark tunnel in the basement... a bat roost full of fruit... an insect feeding pool for predators…a temperate rainforest in the backyard. Imagine without boundaries through drawing, collage and paper models. Developed by Museum Learning and Education Consultant, Rosie Fuller.

This workshop is part of UCL Museums & Cultural Programmes 2023-24 event series Architecting Futures from Past Traces, bringing together art, culture and research.

Access

The Grant Museum of Zoology is completely accessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility from street level via the main museum entrance.

Finding us

We are located in Bloomsbury, in the heart of central London. The nearest tube stations are Euston Square (Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith & City), Goodge Street (Northern Line), Warren Street (Victoria Line), and buses 18, 30, 73, 134 and 205 stop 3-5 minutes away on Euston Road.

Can we bring lunch with us?

To protect the Museum's collection, food cannot be eaten inside the venue and only bottled water with a lid can be drunk within the Museum space. There are plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants within 10 minutes walk of the Museum, and if you intend on bringing your own lunch, our staff will be able to point you in the direction of the best place to eat inside (or outside) on campus.
