Join this workshop to learn how to get the most from your Android tablet.

We will cover:

  • the basic settings, shortcuts, and tips and tricks
  • parental controls to manage how your child uses it
  • accessibility features to customise it for your child's needs

The workshop is held online via Zoom with an experienced trainer and a member of staff from the Family Fund team.

Please note:

  • As we are a UK-based charity, this workshop is intended for parents and carers who are living in the UK.
  • This is a friendly and informal workshop for parents and carers raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person.
  • You’ll need to have an android device (such as a Samsung Galaxy tablet) to take part in the workshop activities.
  • To keep your tablet free to use during the workshop, you will need to join the Zoom call on another device, such as a smartphone or laptop.

Who are these workshops for?

We are a UK-based charity, and all our workshops are intended for families who are living in the UK and are raising a disabled or seriously ill child or young person.

What if I need to cancel?

It is important that if you can no longer join a workshop, you let us know at digitalskills@familyfund.org.uk, or by accessing your booking on Eventbrite and cancelling in your account. Sessions are free, but places are limited, so please tell us if you change your mind or are no longer able to

What do I need to take part?

An internet connection. A device to follow along on. This can be a smartphone, Android tablet, iPad or PC. Please note that some workshops are only compatible with an iPad device. A second device (like a phone or tablet) where you can watch and listen to the workshop.

My family needs adjustments to join

We cater for all families with a range of needs. If you have any questions about the accessibility of the sessions or would like to make us aware of adjustments you or your child might need, please email us at digitalskills@familyfund.org.uk.

What if I don’t want to be on camera?

That's absolutely fine! You're welcome to have your camera turned on or off during the workshop. We want you to feel comfortable, so you can interact with the trainer and the session to a level that feels right for you.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

It is important that if you can no longer join a workshop, you let us know at digitalskills@familyfund.org.uk. Or you can cancel your booking in your Eventbrite account. Sessions are free, but places are limited, so please tell us if you can no longer attend.

How do I keep my family safe online during these sessions?

All our trainers have appropriate checks in place including DBS checking, held and verified by our Apple reseller. If you have video on, please make sure you don’t have any sensitive documents or personal photographs visible. And don’t disclose any personal information such as bank details.

How do I join a workshop?

The workshops will take place on Zoom. When you book your place, you’ll receive a confirmation email with information on how to access the Zoom link.
