The perfect workshop to ring in the Christmas Spirit! Learn the art of contemporary gilding by gilding a picture frame with Dutch Gold, and adding your own unique gilded flair to a Christmas ornament of your choice.
You will be taught about the art of gilding, how it has changed over time and how you can use it in your own home to give anything a new gilded sparkle. Your gilded picture frame and Christmas decoration will make stunning mementoes of the day which can be used as personalised Christmas presents or ornaments.
In this workshop you will:
- be given your own toolset to use in the workshop which contains all the materials and tools required for this workshop.
- learn the art of contemporary gilding, how it has changed over time and how you can use it in your own home to give it the Midas touch!
- learn how to gild a picture frame with Dutch Gold leaf and then add your own unique flair to a christmas ornament of your choice.

Amelia has been invited by The World of Wedgwood, and Middleport Pottery to teach her Gilding techniques to their customers. She was also invited to take part in The World of Wedgwood Future Fest and Middleport's Craft and Art Festival. She teaches throughout the West Midlands and the Northwest at venues such as Haddon Hall, Rheghed, Higham Hall, Hare Hill Barn, Beetham Nurseries and Quirky Bird Workshops.
Amelia has a Master's degree in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage from the University of Lincoln. She is a gilt frame, objects, and decorative surfaces conservator and restorer and has worked in the Fine Arts sector for over 5 years gaining extensive experience in restoring and conserving antiques. During this time, she developed the technique for beginners to enjoy this creative art.
