FIAE & Architecture Plus +
Overview
Architecture Plus is a celebration of those in architecture who are working within the profession or within the realm of architectural education PLUS managing additional challenges alongside their day to day roles. For the 2026 internstionsl womens day celebrations, we are looking to females in architectura education to come together and discuss themes and pressing issues output from an online forum on 21st January 2026 where architectural educators will come together to discuss the outcome of the Fawcett report and more importantly, what we can do as educators in response.
Architecture Plus looks to expose barriers within the profession and architectural education and provide positive encouragement through a collective to support an understanding of how to navigate them. Events also celebrate the successes of those living with a disability, hidden or otherwise; a mental health condition; challenging personal circumstances; minority groups; or any other challenge in addition to working as an architect or in architecture today. Through this lens, we will review the systemic inequality and expose the barriers for Architecture Plus and shine a light on how these can be overcome in the hope to bring about positive change for future generations in order for create an inclusive architecture profession.
Our next event will be held on 18th March 2026 in person and will spotlight issues brought to light by architectural educators relating to both the profession and education in light of the Fawcett Rerport, as commissioned by RIBA.
Context for the online forum on 21st January 2026 and in person event on 18th March 2026:
‘‘Half of female architects have been bullied at work, while one in three have been sexually harassed, according to shocking new data.’’
Architects Journal, 21st October 2025
‘A report, Build It Together, commissioned by the RIBA, has once again shone the spotlight on the ‘toxic cultures’ still prevailing in a profession where just 31 per cent of registered architects are women. Echoing many of the troubling findings in the ARB’s 2024 research into culture within practice, the new study, carried out this spring by gender equality charity the Fawcett Society, found that of the more than 500 female respondents, 50 per cent had been victims of workplace bullying, while 35 per cent had suffered sexual harassment.’
Architects Journal, 21st October 2025
In response to the findings in the Fawcett Report, this CALL TO ACTION is calling Female
Educators in Architectural Education (FEIAE) to come together in an online forum that will take place on 21st January 2026.
We are looking for at least ONE representative from each school of architecture in the UK - though more are welcome if you wish to join. We also welcome all students and practitioners who are interested to work in solidarity with us.
During the online forum, we will open up the discussion around what WE CAN DO within architectural education and in turn the profession, from grass roots through to higher education by way of research and education.
The aspiration of this first meeting will be to create a group that will represent females in architectural education that can showcase and present at the Architecture Plus 2026 event at the Leicester School of Architecture on 18th March 2026.
All welcome to attend!

Attached is a simple graphic titled “What’s Next?” as a Jpeg.
This collective statement signals our unity as educators and our commitment to exploring what we can do next, together.
We invite all schools, colleagues, students, and practioner to share the graphic throughout the day on 10 December. A coordinated visual presence will help amplify the momentum we have already created.
A suggested caption to share:
“I am excited to be part of the Females in Architectural Education (FIAE) network. Together we are looking to see what we can do as a collective of educators in response to the outcomes of the Fawcett Report. Looking forward to seeing what’s next!”

02. Pre-Forum Reflection – Essential for Participation
We kindly ask each school / department of architecture to complete the Pre-Forum Reflection Pro Forma. This is a vital step for the whole sector.
The returned pro formas will:
- form the basis of FIAE’s first national dataset
- shape the themes, priorities, and discussion at the January Forum, and
- feed directly into the FIAE Snapshot – a sector-wide visual summary that will be presented during the January Forum.
Without your school’s submission, the national snapshot will be incomplete. Your contribution ensures that the realities, challenges, and strengths of your institution are represented and heard.
Please complete the attached word document or online via the following link: https://forms.gle/gZBYY8ak1LE5nCi17
Please coordinate one response per school (online via link or by completing and sending back the word document) and return it to us by 12th December 2025 to the following two e-mail addresses:
