Filming and sharing a live performance (when live really means live)

A lot of performance content that looks live is actually pre-recorded. This might be as little as a few minutes or as much as several weeks in advance, but that buffer offers control.  While deciding to share your work live involves taking risks, those risks can give a performance authenticity and energy.

Musician and composer Martin Green, and Cat McGill, Creative Director of online gig curators Live to your Living Room. Martin and Cat will share their experience of streaming a live performance of Keli from The Lyceum in Edinburgh earlier this year. Created by Martin and commissioned by The Lyceum, Keli is the story of a troubled young horn player, combining moving drama with the music of the 20x champions Whitburn Brass Band.

Magnus Dennison, Producer and Cinematographer


Magnus Dennison is a filmmaker and live-streaming expert, whose work includes capturing dance, opera, theatre, poetry and spoken word performances for digital distribution, both live and pre-recorded. Magnus will offer a practical overview of live-streaming, the factors affecting the decision to live-stream, and what you need to plan for and think about.
