Join us for “Fin, feather and fur”, a practical workshop and introduction to wild game butchery and open-fire cooking. Set in the heart of rolling Exmoor countryside, you’ll learn how to handle and cook game, as well as having a hand in cooking the feast, together with the team, around the fire.
True to Exmoor Game School’s ethos, everything we cook is sourced from the surrounding landscape—local, seasonal, and sustainable. It’s more than just cooking, it’s about forging a deeper connection with the food we eat.
Throughout the morning, you’ll:
- Learn open-fire cooking techniques, including hot and cold smoking
- Butcher and prepare wild Exmoor game and fresh fish for the fire
- Head out to forage for seasonal ingredients to add to the menu
Lunch will be a delicious showcase of the morning’s efforts, smoked, roasted, and fire-cooked dishes, all made with the finest seasonal produce.
At the heart of our courses is a passion for incredible local ingredients and the knowledge to cook them with confidence. This is a day of learning, good food, and connection to the land, all rounded off with a fireside lunch.
And the best part? Proceeds from the course help fund free Exmoor Game School sessions for children, ensuring these skills are passed on to future generations.
A memorable, hands-on experience for anyone who loves food, fire, and the great outdoors.
