Are you passionate about the environment? What to find get more involved in helping to clean up our coastlines and local seas? Then come and find out more from the award winning local charity The Final Straw Foundation!

The Final Straw Foundation is a local charity which educates schools, businesses and organisations about ocean health and single use plastic.

We are holding a series of events for individuals, families and businesses to find out more about the charity and how you can get involved.

  • Maybe you're a committed individual who wants to clean up plastic and join one of our local beach cleans.
  • You could become one of our lead beach clean volunteers helping our staff set up the equipment for a beach clean
  • Perhaps you're a student who wants more experience for their studies or CV
  • Are you good at speaking to the public? Then you could educate the public about ocean health and single use plastic at the events that we attend.
  • Or are you are business that wants to get your team involved in one of our bespoke beach cleans for businesses.


The Hunter Gatherer Cafe at 249 Albert Road, PO4 0JR is kindly hosting us on Wednesday 4th June from 3pm-8pm.

We will be doing some short 20 minute talks at 6pm and 7pm about Final Straw and the issues affecting our coastlines. Feel free to drop in at any time during the afternoon and evening.

Do I need to book?

Yes it will help us know how many people will be coming and for the health and safety of the number of people in the cafe. There is no charge to attend the event.

Is there food and drink available?

Yes Hunter Gatherer will be selling plant based cakes, hot and cold drinks.

How do I get to the cafe?

The Hunter Gatherer Cafe is based at 249 Albert Road. It is on the bus route number 2 stops outside the Coop on Highland Road. There is parking on nearby roads particularly on Eastern Parade which is a 5 minute walk. Parking is available on Eastern Parade which is a 5 minute walk.

The Final Straw Foundation is a registered charity* that is working to combat pollution in our local waters. We are based on the south coast in Emsworth, Hampshire, and cover the Solent area in particular. We run regular beach and countryside clean-up events alongside a busy educational and community outreach programme and many other initiatives that highlight and give ideas for trying to become better custodians of our marine environment and minimise plastic pollution.
