A workshop for anyone interested in joining one of Dave Camlin's choirs, or for current singers just to get a post-Christmas fix of singing!
Are you interested in joining one of Dave Camlin's choirs in west Cumbria Sing Owt! or Wild Chorus? Or do you just fancy an uplifting sing to blow away some midwinter cobwebs? Do you enjoy singing, but have no idea what kind of voice you have?
In this workshop, Dave will guide you through the ins and outs of group singing, to help you feel more confident about joining one of his choirs. We'll do some simple warm-ups to relax your body and voice, and learn some easy uplifting songs in harmony.
Each of our voices is unique to us, and singing in a group is about learning to blend with other people's voices. The first step is knowing what kind of register is most comfortable for you:
- basses (low men's voices)
- tenors (high men's / low women's voices)
- altos (middle women's voices)
- sopranos (high women's voices)
No voice is 'better' than any other, it's just about finding out where your voice fits, rather like the 'sorting hat' in Harry Potter.
If you've always fancied the idea of singing in a group, but never quite got round to it, here's a great opportunity to see what it's all about. No audition, no judgement, no need to read music.
And for current singers, this. a great opportunity to sing in the new year and meet some new choirmates.
