This is aimed at Breathing Apparatus, Compartment Fire Behaviour Training and Tactical Ventilation Instructors in LFRS

This will be aimed at Breathing Apparatus, Compartment Fire Behaviour Training and Tactical Ventilation Instructors, both in LFRS and open to the wider region and UKFRS.

The Aim:

To provide Fire Instructors (BA/CFBT/TV) with training techniques and practices for firefighting and rescue operations, enabling them to use this learning improve training in their organisations and better their operational response.

Speakers Details:

John McDonough - Duty Commander for FRS New South Wales, Australia - founding memeber of IFIW, co-author of 3D Firefighting with Paul Grimwood et al, and notorious for his work in the field of firefighting and fire behaviour related training

Gerard Mann - Station Offier from Fire Rescue Victoria - speaker at guest speaker FDIC 2025, IFE Autralia Board Memeber for Fire and Emergency Service and internationally recognised trainer for fire and emergency response.

09:00-10:30 John McDonough - Non-negotiables for structural firefighting & water application techniques

10:30-10:45 Morning break

10:45-12:00 Gerard Mann - Victim rescue operations for structure fires

12:00-13:00 Lunch

13:00-14:15 - Gerard Mann - Water application, low movement, victim rescue techniques

14:15-14:30 Afternoon break

14:30-16:00 John McDonough - fire control demo in Attack Unit


Learning Outcomes:

  • Expectations of firefighters and their action in fire environments.
  • Effective water application methods and techniques.
  • Effective movement techniques for a fire environment.
  • Effective rescue techniques for victims in structure fires.
  • How to set safe and controlled conditions in a fire training session.


NOTE: This is a free event. Onsite lunch is available for £6 for two course meal. Card Payments accepted.
