FIRES AND FASCISM

FIRES AND FASCISM

LG04London, England
Thursday, May 7 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm GMT+1
Overview

FIRES AND FASCISM explores how Europe’s wildfires are tied to fascism, crime, and big business, and focuses on grassroots resistance.

FIRES AND FASCISM is a new 57-min documentary that shows the wildfires in Europe are more than just climate change and mismanagement. It links the increasing wildfires of Europe with fascism, big business, organised crime, and the rise of the far right. It showcases how communities are engaging in direct action, protest, rewilding, and suppressing the rise of uncontrollable fires and the far right through direct actions.

Featured are the experiences and actions of 25 people from Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, including scientists, teachers, artists, gardeners, engineers, winemakers, NGOs, and authors. The film is crowdfunded, independent, and non-profit.

The director of the film, Dr Pete Knapp will be joining us for a Q&A after the film! Dr Knapp has a background in air quality and shifted careers from academia to storytelling. The reason for making the film is to reduce modern day fascism and to help unify people in times of growing division. It aims to start the conversation on what we need to do about the rise of fascism today.

The film is currently on a tour of the UK with 100 screenings. Pete Knapp will be attending each screening to discuss the film and how it links to local community.
