Implementing the First Homes Planning Policy

The 24th May 2021 <a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statements/detail/2021-05-24/hlws48" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Written Ministerial Statement </a>amended planning policy on affordable homes by introducing the requirement to deliver First Homes through the planning system. These changes took effect on 28th June 2021 and with the publication of updated <a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/first-homes" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">planning practice guidanc</a>e there’s a lot to get to grips with. First Homes are discounted market sale housing and fall within the definition of ‘affordable housing’ for planning purposes. We are holding an event to explore the practicalities of implementing First Homes policy.We will be having specific breakout rooms covering (1) Developer Contributions (2) Plan Making and (3) Decision Making so have a think before the session which room you want to be in. These sessions are for local planning authority officers so remember please to sign up with your @gov.uk email address.
