The Scouts Learning SchemeSouth East Scotland Scouts inspires and equips young people across the Borders, Braid, Craigalmond, East Lothian, Edinburgh North East, Midlothian, and Pentland with #SkillsforLife. With over 7,000 young people aged 4-25 participating, Scouting offers adventurous, creative, and community-based activities that promote self-development, good citizenship, and inclusivity—all while having fun!Our dedicated team of nearly 2,000 adult volunteers plays a vital role in supporting young people. To ensure they feel confident and supported in their roles, we provide learning opportunities that build on their existing skills and knowledge. This structured learning includes essential, role-specific, and ongoing development, with some elements contributing to externally recognised qualifications.Through platforms like Eventbrite, we facilitate learning and safeguarding initiatives, ensuring our volunteers are well-equipped to make a lasting impact. Scouting isn’t just about young people—it’s also about the growth and development of our volunteers, helping them gain as much as they give.

First Response course - a basic first aid course to meet the minimum requirements of leaders in Scouting.

The Reid Memorial Church

This is modules 10A and 10B being run concurrently in a single course. It's the minimum required of all leaders in Scouting, aimed at those operating in areas where emergncy help should be available reasonably quickly.The session will be held at the Reid Hub, Reid Memorial Church, 182 West Savile Terrace, Edinburgh, EH9 3HY and will commence at 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm. On street parking is available near the venue.Tea and coffee will be available, please bring a packed lunch. Uniform is not needed, please dress to be warm and comfortable.As demand is high, if you book a place then are unable to attend you MUST cancel as soon as possible to allow another leader to use the place. Please cancel in Eventbrite, using the link in your confirmation email.
