Event Details

First Response is Module 10 of the Scout training scheme and covers the mandatory first aid requirements for leaders including activity permits such as hillwalking terrain one. The course is also recognised by Girlguiding UK and is suitable for module K of the young leader scheme.

This course consists of a 2 hour e-learning plus face to face session. The course carries an attendance certificate (sent by email) which lasts for 3 years. We do not offer a refresher course any more, although other districts may.

Please complete the e-learning before attending. We will remind you 2 weeks before. We get a list sent to us just before the course of who has completed.

You can access the e-learning here:

Is there a charge?

There is no charge for the course but if you want a First Response book (with paper certificate) we sell these at cost, currently £3 to non-Blackwatet Valley leaders. Cash or CQ to Blackwater Valley District Scouts.

We can also offer First Aid Manuals RRP £13.99 for £10. You can download the Red Cross or St John app for your smartphone for free.

What should I bring/wear?
Please bring a pen with you. There is no need to wear uniform and please wear trousers due to the practical work.

Will refreshments be provided?
Tea, Coffee & Biscuits will be provided. If you have any specific needs (e.g. decaf, soya milk), please bring your own on this occasion.
