About this event

  • Event lasts 28 days 3 hours

This diploma course is an educational curriculum set by the manufacturers, Aida Chemical Industries. The diploma has the the same curriculum throughout Europe although there is some design freedom within the projects.

These level one and two silver clay diplomas will run concurrently over five half-days with each student studying at the level they are suited to. These courses cover 6 projects – two rings, a leaf pendant, a stone set pendant, earrings and a brooch. The projects require the student to demonstrate different skills and techniques. You will be guided through the projects by our fully qualified tutor but the work must be your own, so you do need to have had some metal clay experience.

Level 1 and 2 Diploma projects are both technique based; meaning both the instructor and student have some freedom when it comes to the design of the piece. The instructor will advise regarding feasibility of the student’s design and ensure that all required elements are incorporated to successfully demonstrate the correct level of ability.

Three sets of criteria for each project are listed in the curriculum class documentation. Each project will be evaluated by the instructor who will score them with 1 – 5 points; from ‘failed’ to ‘outstanding’. The standard expected score would be 3, with 5 only being awarded to absolutely perfect execution of all thespecified techniques.

The scoring system is designed to help the student understand their strengths and weaknesses and develop their skills further. The student must remake the item if they score 1 for any of the criteria. It is left to the discretion of the teacher to request a remake if 2 is scored for any part.

After completion of the class the instructor will take good quality photos of all student work and send them with the evaluation form and application to the local distributor who will issue the certificate.

The course fee covers registration, exam and certification, it also includes ALL materials needed.

Following successful completion of the course your work will be marked and your paperwork will be submitted to issue your certificate.

Once you receive your certificate you will be entitled to claim your 15% discount from any official supplier of Art Clay
