Flax Processing Tool-making Workshop

Flax Processing Tool-making Workshop

Overview

Let's get together to build some flax processing tools.

Are you interested in learning more about the endangered craft of processing fibre flax? Having the right tools for extracting the fibre from the flax plant is essential, but few tools are currently available in our area.

As part of Devon Grows Flax we are offering two free flax processing tool-making workshop sessions - join us on Sunday the 26th of July at School Farm CSA.

At the start of the session you'll be introduced to different processing stages and the appropriate tools.

You then will be guided to make a flax brake and a flax hackling board. These tools will be in community ownership, allowing local flax growers and flax enthusiasts to process fibre. You will be able to borrow the tools you make during the session.

Some experience with hand and power tools is useful but not essential. You can book either the morning or the afternoon session (the workshop is the same each time).

Morning session (10am-12pm) / Afternoon session (1pm-3pm).

At School Farm CSA.

Materials, tea and cake provided.
