Floorwork Foundations is a new contemporary dance course designed to help you build movement skills from the floor up. Guided by floorwork lover and qualified dance teacher Yanaëlle Thiran, you will make gravity your advantage by rolling, sliding, swinging and spiralling safely and smoothly from horizontal to vertical planes. No previous experience is required; all you need is a clean, even floor surface where you can lie down comfortably with your arms and legs extended.

Who is it for? Floorwork Foundations is suitable for all movement lovers, from beginners to more advanced movers. If you are a dancer trained in techniques where the body is mostly upright, you might find it particularly useful. A strength of our floorwork classes is that the limited number of participants guarantees plenty of time for your questions and 1:1 feedback.

Booking information: The course is delivered in 2 blocks of 5 weeks:

• Block 1: Mondays 11/01, 18/01, 25/01, 01/02 and 08/02/2021
• Block 2: Mondays 22/02, 01/03, 08/03, 15/03 and 22/03/2021

It is possible to drop in for a single class, but you will probably gain more from the course if you attend one or both blocks of 5 weeks. Payment options are:

• Free Trial* (validity: 1 day)
• Donation: £5 per class (validity: 1 day)
• Half Circle Card: 5 classes for £20 (validity: 2 months)
• Full Circle Card: 10 classes for £35 (validity: 3 months)

Bookings close 1 hour before class starts. Once registered, you will receive a Zoom link every Monday until your card expires.

What should I wear? Please wear comfortable clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. For your own safety, avoid zips, belts, buttons and jewellery. Carpet might cause burns - please wear long sleeves and socks if you dance on carpet.

By signing up for the course, you confirm that

• You are in good shape and fit enough to dance.
• Before each class begins, you will let Yanaëlle know if you have any injuries or health issues that may affect your participation.
• You will take care of your own body and surroundings during the classes. Company Concentric is not liable for any injury, damage to your belongings or property that may happen while you take part in classes.
• You are happy for us to take screenshots or video recordings to promote the classes. Please let us know if you would prefer not to appear on pictures or video recordings.

* If you are new to Company Concentric's classes, you are entitled to 1 Free Trial. Once you book this ticket, the date and time of your trial session cannot be changed. This means that if you miss the trial class you had signed up for, you will need to book by donation or purchase a class card to join the next session.
