Film City Futures is a charitable organisation originally established to provide training and development opportunities in the film and screen industries in Scotland.Our mission is to connect people, space and opportunity, enabling access and entry to the screen industries for all – acting as a catalyst for participation, learning, and innovation.We are based at Film City Glasgow – a centre for the screen industries in Scotland – which houses over 25 companies from across the production and post-production sector.Our current project - FOCUS - creates the opportunity for screen sector companies in Scotland to acces sector specific business advice and support.

Film City Futures

FOCUS, Scott-Moncrieff and BTO Solicitors have joined forces to deliver a free workshop on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This new set of rules about how you handle data comes into force in May this year, changing the way that you need to deal with personal data, particularly in the context of marketing. The new regulations could have a major impact on your screen company:  failing to comply could result in fines of up to £17 million!
The workshop is designed for companies working in the screen sector who need to market their work or maintain a database. Elizabeth Mclean of Scott-Moncrieff and Laura Irvine of BTO Solicitors will outline the main changes and requirements of this new legislation, the challenges it might pose to your organisation, and the practical steps you can take now. 
Elizabeth and Laura will be on hand to chat further with anyone who wants to discuss how GDPR might affect their current productions, and screen companies can also find out a bit more about FOCUS, and discuss the current rolling application process.
The event is held at Film City Glasgow, 401 Govan Road, on Wednesday 31st January. Registration and coffee will be from 12:30pm, with the workshop running from 1pm to 2:30pm.  
Places are free but limited.
